Contract Government Contracts Attorney

Job Description

Contract Government Contracts Attorney (Remote / Part-Time In-House Counsel - FAR/DFARS, Aerospace)

Put your FAR/DFARS expertise to work on a high-impact, flexible, fully remote contract engagement. This part-time, remote (WFH) in-house counsel opportunity is a Contract Attorney role with a leading global chemical and advanced materials company, designed for an experienced government contracts lawyer who wants sophisticated, in-house-facing work on a schedule of roughly 10-15 hours per week, with the potential for more. Work from anywhere, apply your aerospace government contracts knowledge directly to a client's business, and help shape how a government contracts program is meant to work in-house.

This remote in-house government contracts attorney role is a Contract Attorney engagement (as a Latitude W2 employee). The engagement begins as a project-based assignment of approximately one to two months, with the possibility of extension as the client's needs develop. The work involves reviewing and advising on government contracts terms and conditions (including FAR and DFARS clauses and flow-downs in an aerospace context) and then helping the client's legal team develop, strategize, and benchmark a government contracts program, drawing on your experience of how such programs work in practice within an in-house legal department.

Basic Requirements for the Government Contracts Attorney:

• Substantial experience (7+ years preferred) as a government contracts lawyer, with hands-on FAR and DFARS experience

• Experience in the aerospace and/or defense industry, including reviewing and negotiating government contract and subcontract terms and conditions and flow-down clauses

• In-house counsel experience, or experience building, benchmarking, or advising on a government contracts compliance program, strongly preferred

• Excellent academic credentials from an ABA-accredited law school

• Excellent analytical, written, verbal and interpersonal skills, with the judgment to work independently and advise business and legal stakeholders

• Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state (or eligible for in-house exemption)

• Outstanding professional references

Position Details of the Government Contracts Attorney:

• Type of role: Contract In-House Counsel (Contract Attorney)

• Schedule: Part-time; approximately 10-15 hours per week initially, for an anticipated one to two months, with potential for extension

• Location: Remote / WFH (fully remote; work from anywhere in the U.S.)

• Practice focus: Government contracts; FAR / DFARS; aerospace

Compensation:

• Pay: The annualized pay for this position is equivalent to $180,000 to $210,000 when calculated on a full-time basis (the engagement itself is part-time). Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate's preference (each candidate's pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect the candidate's competitiveness for the position).

• Benefits: In addition to pay, all Latitude Attorneys and other legal professionals working on contract engagements receive complimentary professional liability insurance coverage. All Latitude employees (including those on contract engagements) are also eligible for full benefits when working 20+ hours per week, including group medical, dental, and vision insurance, and complimentary group life, LTD and AD&D insurance. A qualified 401k plan is also available. Benefits-eligible Latitude Attorneys also receive a CLE and Professional Expense stipend.
