Healthcare Regulatory Attorney (Remote)
Job Description
Latitude Legal is seeking an experienced Healthcare Regulatory Attorney to support a national healthcare company on a part-time, remote engagement basis (approximately 10 hours per week). The engagement is expected to last multiple months, and the company is looking to bring someone on immediately. Candidates must be licensed to practice in any jurisdiction and may be located anywhere in the United States.
The company operates in the Medicare Advantage and value-based care space. The company is preparing for an upcoming arbitration matter and is looking for a regulatory specialist (not a litigator) to serve as a subject-matter resource on the Medicare Advantage and value-based care issues at the heart of the dispute. This is a focused, high-impact engagement well suited to a solo practitioner, small firm attorney, or in-house counsel with capacity to take on a discrete project.
What You'll Do Includes:
- Analyze Medicare Advantage and value-based care regulatory frameworks relevant to the company's pending arbitration, including CMS program requirements, payment methodologies, risk adjustment, and payer-provider contractual arrangements.
- Serve as the healthcare regulatory subject-matter expert supporting the company's preparation for the arbitration, working alongside company leadership and outside litigation counsel.
- Review key documents, agreements, and factual positions through a regulatory lens and advise on how applicable rules and CMS guidance bear on the issues in dispute.
- Help develop and pressure-test regulatory arguments, identify strengths and vulnerabilities in the company's positions, and translate complex regulatory concepts for the broader arbitration team.
- Provide practical, responsive guidance on related Medicare Advantage and value-based care regulatory questions as they arise during the engagement.
Who You Are:
- Attorney with 5-7+ years of healthcare regulatory experience; deep familiarity with Medicare Advantage and value-based care arrangements is essential.
- Strong working knowledge of CMS regulations and guidance, including payment structures, risk-based contracting, and the regulatory relationships between providers and payors.
- Prior experience supporting disputes, arbitrations, or government inquiries from a regulatory perspective is a plus; but this is a regulatory role, not a litigation role.
- Experience at a full-service or healthcare-focused law firm, or in-house with a health plan, value-based provider, or other healthcare organization.
- Able to work independently, ramp up quickly, and deliver clear, practical analysis on a part-time schedule.
- Licensed to practice law and in good standing (any U.S. jurisdiction).
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Outstanding references.
