Interim Senior In-House Counsel (Remote)
Job Description
Latitude is assisting one of its clients, a leading company in the optical and lens products industry, in seeking a highly experienced in-house attorney to provide interim legal support during a medical leave.
This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned attorney to step into a broad, high-impact role and serve as a trusted legal partner to the business. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, the attorney will help ensure continuity across the legal function while taking ownership of a wide range of commercial, corporate, compliance, and day-to-day legal matters.
The role will provide significant exposure to business leaders and cross-functional stakeholders and is well suited for an attorney who enjoys operating with autonomy, exercising sound judgment, and helping move the business forward. The successful candidate will be comfortable quickly getting up to speed on existing matters, identifying priorities, and providing practical, solutions-oriented legal guidance in a dynamic business environment.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned in-house generalist with strong commercial instincts, excellent judgment, and the ability to manage a varied workload with minimal supervision. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced attorney who enjoys being close to the business, working directly with senior leadership, and making an immediate and meaningful contribution to an established legal team. Ability to support APAC hours as needed a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Assume responsibility for a significant portion of the legal matters previously handled by in-house counsel currently on medical leave and help ensure continuity across the legal function.

- Advise on regulatory and compliance matters relevant to the company's products, operations, and commercial activities.
- Support matters involving product, marketing, advertising, intellectual property, privacy, and data protection, as needed.
- Assist with corporate governance, policies, internal approvals, and other corporate legal matters.
- Identify and escalate significant legal and business risks while providing practical solutions that allow the business to move forward.
- Manage matters independently while collaborating closely with the General Counsel, other members of the legal team, and outside counsel where appropriate.
- Help prioritize and manage a potentially high volume of matters arising during this interim period.
Qualifications
- At least 10+ years of legal experience, including meaningful in-house experience.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school.
- Active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
- Broad corporate and commercial legal experience, with a strong background negotiating complex commercial agreements.
- Prior experience serving as a senior legal counsel, assistant/deputy general counsel, or in another role requiring significant autonomy and judgment.
- Experience supporting a product-based, manufacturing, medical device, optical, consumer products, life sciences, technology, or similarly regulated business is highly desirable.
- Ability to quickly step into an established legal function and independently manage a wide variety of matters.
- Strong business judgment and a practical, solutions-oriented approach.
- Comfortable advising senior executives and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment and manage competing priorities with minimal supervision.
