Job Description

Contract In-House Corporate Counsel - Government & Commercial Contracts

Latitude is seeking an experienced corporate attorney for a contract engagement as in-house counsel to an aerospace and defense technology company that develops advanced radar systems and communications technologies for government and commercial customers. This opportunity is well suited to an attorney with a background in government contracting and commercial transactions who is comfortable providing practical, business-oriented legal advice across a range of matters.

The attorney selected will work directly with company leadership and business stakeholders to draft, review, and negotiate government and commercial contracts, advise on contractual obligations and risk, and support the company's ongoing business operations.

In addition to contracting responsibilities, the attorney will provide general corporate legal support and practical, business-oriented advice on matters that arise in the company's day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will also have some familiarity with California employment law, sufficient to address routine questions and identify issues requiring specialized counsel, although this experience is not required. The role calls for an attorney who is comfortable working independently, exercising sound judgment, and providing responsive legal guidance in a growing, technically sophisticated business.

Basic Requirements for the Contract In-House Corporate Counsel:

  • 7+ years of corporate and commercial legal experience, preferably including substantial in-house experience
  • Meaningful experience with government contracting, including familiarity with federal government contracting requirements and regulations
  • Experience independently drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements, including customer, vendor, supplier, and services agreements
  • Experience supporting companies in the aerospace, defense, technology, or manufacturing industries strongly preferred
  • Ability to provide practical legal guidance on general corporate and operational matters beyond commercial contracting
  • Familiarity with California employment law, including the ability to address routine questions and issue-spot, is a plus but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, assess contractual and business risks, and provide practical, commercially reasonable solutions
  • Excellent academic credentials from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Excellent analytical, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction and in good standing
  • Outstanding professional references
