Employment Law Subject Matter Expert
Job Description
Employment Law Subject Matter Expert (Attorney | Remote | Part-Time | Flexible Contract Engagement)
Latitude is seeking a seasoned employment law subject matter expert for a part-time, fully remote contract engagement with a growing plaintiff-side litigation boutique. The client's employment docket includes individual claims as well as class and collective actions.
The attorney selected will serve as the firm's substantive employment law resource. The role centers on independently evaluating employment claims, identifying and framing the legal issues, and advising attorneys and clients on strategy in complex employment matters - including wage and hour, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination disputes. This is an advisory engagement rather than a case-handling one; it is well suited to a practical, entrepreneurial attorney who exercises sound judgment, works well with trial counsel, and can contribute immediately with minimal supervision.
Basic Requirements for the Employment Law Subject Matter Expert:
• 5+ years of substantive employment law experience, including employment counseling, litigation, or both
• Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including wage and hour, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination
• Demonstrated ability to independently evaluate complex employment claims, identify legal issues, and provide practical, strategic guidance
• Excellent analytical, written, verbal and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, co-counsel, and other stakeholders
• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
• Outstanding professional references
Preferred Qualifications
• Meaningful plaintiff-side employment law experience
• Experience evaluating or advising on employment class and collective actions
