Privacy Attorney
Job Description
Latitude Legal is seeking a Privacy Attorney with EU data protection experience to join the in-house legal team of a global consumer cybersecurity company on a fully remote engagement basis. The role is expected to start on a part-time basis (approximately 25 hours per week), with availability up to full-time hours preferred, and has potential to convert to a permanent position if there is a mutual fit. Candidates should be available during Eastern Time business hours, and New York-based candidates are preferred.
The company is a publicly traded technology company whose brands operate in the security/identity management space. The company has a significant European presence and operates in one of the most heavily regulated corners of tech: consumer data, privacy, AI and consumer finance. The Privacy Attorney will partner directly with product, engineering, security, and business teams, translating privacy requirements into clear, workable guidance, and handle a varied mix of work, from privacy reviews of new initiatives and vendor agreements to cross-border data transfers and evolving regulations. This role suits a practical, business-minded privacy attorney who can step into a busy in-house team and take ownership of the company's US and EU privacy matters quickly.
What You'll Do Includes:
- Serve as a day-to-day privacy resource for product, engineering, marketing, security, and business teams on EU and global data protection requirements
- Lead privacy reviews of new products, features, and initiatives, including data protection impact assessments and legitimate interest assessments
- Advise on international data transfers, including Standard Contractual Clauses, transfer impact assessments, and the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework
- Review and negotiate data processing agreements and the privacy and security terms of vendor and commercial agreements
- Support the company's privacy compliance program, including privacy notices, consent and cookie practices, records of processing, and data subject requests
- Advise on privacy incidents and breach notification, and engage with regulators and data protection authorities as needed
- Monitor evolving EU privacy and AI regulation and translate new requirements into practical guidance for the business
Who You Are:
- U.S.-licensed attorney with 7+ years of data privacy experience, ideally a mix of in-house and law firm experience
- Strong working knowledge of the GDPR and the ePrivacy framework, with hands-on experience advising on cross-border data transfers, DPIAs, and data subject rights
- Experience engaging with supervisory authorities and managing privacy incidents is a plus
- Familiarity with the EU AI Act and other emerging EU digital regulation is a plus
- CIPP/E, CIPM, or AIGP certification is a plus
- AI-literate, curious, and comfortable using AI tools in your legal work
- A self-starter who spots opportunities to improve processes and acts on them
- Commercially minded, with the judgment to give clear, practical guidance to non-lawyers
- Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fully remote environment
- Active bar admission in good standing in any U.S. jurisdiction
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Outstanding references
