United States (Remote)EngagementLitigation

CA Litigation Paralegal

Job Description

Latitude Legal is seeking a California-experienced Litigation Paralegal to support a plaintiff-side Los Angeles litigation firm on a part-time engagement basis (approximately 20 hours per week, with the potential to increase). This is a fully remote role with a flexible start date. The engagement has potential to last more than a year, providing opportunity for a long-term, stable engagement (if preferred).

The firm represents women in medical sexual abuse cases against physicians and the institutions that employed them, with a large and growing number of plaintiffs in coordinated proceedings. The firm needs a substantive paralegal to support the attorney team across the full lifecycle of a high-volume docket. That includes working through large document productions and identifying what matters, preparing for depositions, supporting written discovery, and organizing medical records and case files for individual plaintiffs. This is not an administrative or calendaring role.

What You'll Do Includes:

  • Review and analyze large document productions in Relativity (or similar platforms), identifying key documents, coding and tagging for consistency, and flagging significant issues for the attorney team.
  • Draft document summaries, issue memos, and chronologies
  • Prepare deposition materials, including key document sets, exhibit lists, chronologies, and witness binders, and summarize deposition transcripts.
  • Support written discovery across a large multi-plaintiff docket, including drafting initial discovery requests and responses, assisting with plaintiff fact sheets and verifications, and working with clients to gather information.
  • Track incoming and outgoing productions, help prepare privilege logs, and assist with materials for meet-and-confer efforts and discovery motions.
  • Collect, organize, and summarize medical records for individual plaintiffs, supporting the attorneys' liability and damages analysis.
  • Support new case filings as additional plaintiffs come forward, including assembling case information and preparing pleadings and supporting documents for attorney review.
  • Assist with motion and expert work, including compiling exhibits, preparing declarations for attorney review, and gathering materials for experts.
  • Maintain organized, consistent case files for individual plaintiffs across a growing number of related cases.

Who You Are:

  • Experienced California litigation paralegal with substantive document review, discovery, and case preparation experience. This role is best suited to someone who has worked through large productions and supported attorneys on substantive work, not someone whose experience is mainly administrative.
  • Working knowledge of the California Code of Civil Procedure, California discovery rules, and Los Angeles Superior Court practice. Experience with complex or coordinated proceedings is a plus.
  • Mass tort, complex, or multi-plaintiff litigation experience strongly preferred. Personal injury or medical records experience is a plus.
  • Strong working proficiency in Relativity.
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to draft clear summaries, chronologies, and discovery materials for attorney review.
  • Detail-oriented and analytical, with the judgment to assess relevance and significance independently.
  • Comfortable managing high-volume work across many related cases.
  • Comfortable interacting with clients and handling sensitive subject matter with discretion and empathy.
  • Organized, responsive, and able to work independently on a fully remote basis.
  • Reasonably available during West Coast business hours.
  • Outstanding references.
